I needed to cut a piece out of an Integra wiring harness, and the yard I visit most often had just one Acura on their lot, and it was too new to be useful. So, in search of junk Integras I found this lot tucked away into the south side of the city that claimed they had a wrecked 4 door. Never had been here before, but it actually turned out to be a gold mine of rare (and surprisingly complete) cars.
Honestly, half the yard was cars that nobody has seen since at least the late '90s. It seems as though the place has a super low turnover rate, so they buy stuff and then just let it slowly get picked at over the course of a decade
Here's a few photos of what I found most interesting
Gran Turismo 4 taught me what this is. Never actually seen one in the flesh before. Too bad it wasn't in wagon mode.
and another one!
Holy crap was this 240 complete. No idea how its managed to stay that way for so long.
When was the last time you saw a Hyundai Excel?
or a Plymouth Arrow?
Hell, this is the first time I've ever seen a Yugo in the flesh
also my first TR7 spotting

I actually bought the service manual from this. Figured I'd never see one again, so why not?

And I just bought this.
But yeah that actually pretty cool that you took the manual. I would of never thought to have done that.

The Yugo totally deserves that reputation. It is beyond comprehension how bad the interior quality of these things is.

The interior in the Yugo looks so clean. HOW????

Awesome. I'm actually quite fond of horrible cars so this would be right up my alley. I would of gave the guy like $100.00 for the whole car and park it in my garage and maybe make an arcade or something with it. I'm sure I could do something with it maybe throw a snowmobile motor in there or something.

That brings back some memories.
Different yard but same time capsule feeling.
There was a Yard in Harvey Illinois called Bruno's that had nothing but pre 1979 cars. The first time I went there (1993ish) I was greeted by a pile of early Chrysler Hemis is in the parking lot.
"Bruno's" only rules for walking the yard was to only walk on the roofs of the cars and don't touch the Hemis.
The place had been around since the 50s and I don't think Bruno ever realized his retirement dream off of those Hemis..

As I look at the state of ruin that most of those cars have sunk into, I'm filled with a quiet of awe of sadness. Except the yugo. I look at the yugo, and think, "That's about right." Dilapidation suits it.
